Democracy means solidarity and confidence

We must fight and take action for our ideals—above all, to preserve our democracy. The right to vote is a privilege we should cherish.

But today, people mostly just complain: “Politics” is to blame for everything. Yet hardly anyone takes a good look at themselves or asks where they can help.

• We complain about closed youth centers, but we don’t even volunteer to support the local sports club anymore.
• We get annoyed by parks littered with trash, but we can’t even muster the courage to pick up our own trash or pitch in during a neighborhood cleanup.

Social cohesion is crumbling, and there’s a lack of shared social projects. No one seems to care who they vote for. Political disillusionment is everywhere you look.

Don’t always blame politics for your hardships! Everyone has to do their part for the community—and make sacrifices now and then.

• Sacrifice & Consideration: Everyone has to make sacrifices sometimes. If a new shelter for refugees or a bike path is to be built in the neighborhood, it doesn’t help to reflexively shout, “Not in my backyard!”
• Social security: The poor and those in need must be able to live with dignity. A single parent shouldn’t have to choose between school supplies for her children and a warm meal.
• The common good before profit: Yes, prices are rising. But the poor and those in need must be able to make ends meet; no one should be forced into poverty. And to all you profit-seekers: Share instead of hoarding! Unbridled capitalism is destroying us.

This isn't about envy and resentment, but about social cohesion and confidence. Because in the end, only one question matters: What kind of world do we want to leave behind for our children?
